The Speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament, Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena stated that a special committee has been appointed to oversee the incident that took place in the Parliament on 21st of April.
The committee is chaired by Deputy Speaker Ranjith Siyambalapitiya. Other members of the committee include Minister Chamal Rajapaksa and Minister Keheliya Rambukwella as well as State Minister Susil Premajayantha, MP Anura Yapa, MP Imtiaz Bakir Marker, MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara and MP M. A. Sumanthiran.
It is the responsibility of this Committee to make recommendations as to the course of action to be taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
