All schools in the island, including pre-schools, will open on March 29

Minister of Education, Prof. G.L Peiris states that schools for all grades in the Western Province, including pre-schools as well as all schools in the country will be reopened from the 29th March (Monday).

The Minister said this during the cabinet decision media briefing held today (24) at the Department of Government Information. The approval of the Director General of Health Services, Dr. Asela Gunawardena, was obtained by the Minister of Education in this regard. Schools restarted from March 15 only for grades 5, 11 and 13 in the Western Province. Previously, all grades of all schools in the Western Province were scheduled to commence on April 19.

The Minister further added that special concern is given for the inoculation of teachers and necessary discussions are being held with the Presidential Task Force in this regard.
