Sri Lanka’s rich culinary heritage was also honoured in a special “Sri Lankan Food Week” titled “Taste of Sri Lanka” from 10 - 12 September 2020, at Lulu Hypermarket in Dana Mall & Juffair Mall respectively. The event organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Sri Lanka, had a daily live cooking demonstration by Sri Lankan Senior Sous Chef Samitha Pathmakumara of Gulf Hotel. Several signature dishes showcasing authentic Sri Lankan cuisine’s tropical influences demonstrated lively, allowing visitors to experience the unique taste of Sri Lankan culinary art.
During “Taste of Sri Lanka” a wide spectrum of Sri Lankan products were also sold at very attractive prices at all Lulu Hypermarkets in Bahrain, and customers had the chance to discover the rich food of Sri Lanka through tasting and sampling. The festival will end on September 17 - 19 with chefs serving up oriental delicacies from China, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan.
The Embassy facilitated Sri Lanka’s participation at “Lulu Food Week” as a way forward in reviving trade and tourism promotion in the post COVID-19 situation.
