Thereafter, Health Authorities had discussed the matter with the Director-General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe, the Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said, addressing the daily report of the National Operation Centre for the Prevention of Covid-19 June (03).
Accordingly, the recommendations of the Health Ministry regarding which state officials should be included in the postal voting process, how should the election campaigning be held, how the door-to-door campaigning should be held, how the voting should be held on the day of the election and how the vote counting should be done etc was handed over to the Election Commissioner.
Based on these recommendations, the Election Commission would be able to expedite its arrangements to hold the election in line with the health guidelines, Min. Wanniarachchi said.
Meanwhile, Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe said the health guidelines for the General Election had been formulated through continuous discussions held with the officials of the Election Commission. All events, occasions and other entities related to the General Election process were discussed during the series of discussions held between the health officials and the Election Commission officials.
