The additional relief period has been extended from May 11th to the 29th.
The decision had been taken to extend the grace period due to people being unable to pay the fines due to the curfew being imposed in the Western Province and Puttalam Districts, said the Department.
However, from tomorrow (11) all post offices across the country will reopen and there would be no hindrance to the public in paying their fines, the Postal Department said. Accordingly, no penalty will be charged for fines issued on or before March 01 but for fines issued between February 16 and 29 relevant penalty charges will have to be paid.
