The PCR tests conducted on naval personnel who had come in contact with the Covid-19 infected sailor had confirmed that 30 naval personnel are infected, Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva said in a special statement.
Earlier today the Navy sailor had suddenly taken ill and the PCR test conducted on his confirmed that he was infected with the Covid-19.
Accordingly, the sailors’ barracks that the said sailor was in was quarantined and all the other sailors who had come in contact with him were sent for quarantine and they were all subjected to PCR testing.
The reports of the tests were received a short while ago confirming that 30 sailors including the initially detected sailor tested positive for Covid-19.
