During his address, he appreciated all responsibilities being carried out by the Tri-forces and the Police to eradicate the COVID -19 pandemic from the island. “Due to untiring efforts and the commitment made by all of you, the situation of the country has improved to a satisfactory level. The assistance given to government authorities during curfew hours by you all is very much commended and deserves our praise as well as that of the general public in the country,” he told the gathering.
Major General (Retd) Gunaratne was welcomed on his arrival at the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni in a drive-past and driven in a ceremonial Military Police out riders before Major General Rohitha Dharmasiri, Commander, Security Forces-Wanni welcomed the day’s Chief Guest to the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni.
The day's visitor recollected some of his memories way back in 2009 and during his tenure as the Commander, Security Forces- Wanni as well as the work that he fulfilled as the Competent Authority for Rehabilitation in the Wanni area with the assistance of Tri-Forces. Meanwhile, the Secretary Defence Major General (retd) Kamal Gunarathna during his northern visit called at the Security Force HQ in Mullaittivu on Friday (17) and addressed the troops appreciating their tireless roles.
The visiting Secretary was welcomed by Major General Deepthi Jayathillake, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu at the entrance.
He spoke high of the commitments of Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Special Task Force and Civil Security Department to eradicate the Covid-19 epidemic from the motherland.
