As soon as the curfew was lifted the public in these areas were seen rushing to do their shopping.
However, despite the government warning the public about the dangers in gathering in numbers during shopping, no sooner the curfew was lifted the people began gathering at shops and markets in large numbers ignoring the warnings issued by the government and the health services.
This was a huge obstacle in the health authority’s efforts to control the spread of the Coronavirus.
Accordingly, the Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara districts have been identified as high-risk areas and the curfew, therefore, has been enforced until further notice.
