Addressing a media briefing today (19) the Head of the National Operation Centre for the Prevention of Covid-19 Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva said that currently, 2288 persons are in quarantine at 16 centres around the country.
Army Commander said this during the media briefing held at the National Operation Centre for the Prevention of Covid-19. The Army Commander added that so far 20 persons who were being in quarantine had tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.“All inbound flights were banned from last night, but, we had to allow one flight to arrive from London as it had already reached London on its way to Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, 145 persons arrived on-board this flight and they were all directed to quarantine centres.Although we were to send a flight to India last night to bring back the stranded Sri Lankans, it did not happen. But, there are several Sri Lankan flights going to Indian cities. These aircrafts have been given special permission to bring back the Sri Lankan pilgrims stranded in India.
Accordingly, any Sri Lankan pilgrim stranded in India could return home aboard any of these flights, but they will all have to undergo quarantine procedures,” he said.
