Avoid coming to Immigration and Emigration Department unless it’s urgent – Controller General Sarath Rupasiri

All passengers arriving from foreign countries have been limited and unless it is absolutely essential the public should avoid foreign travel, the Immigration and Emigration Controller General Sarath Rupasiri appealed to the public.

He made this request during the Covid-19 media briefing held at the Government Information Department today. He noted that around 5000 persons visit the Immigration and Emigration Department on a daily basis for their visas and passports etc, but due to the spread of the Coronavirus, he urged the people not to visit the department unless it is for an extremely urgent requirement.

He said that as many public service institutions are located at the Battaramulla Suhurupaya building, Public Health Inspectors (PHI) are stationed at this building and in the event anyone is ill they should immediately notify these PHIs.
