“Except for Turmeric and Ulundu, all other commodities are available. The reason for the shortage of turmeric and Ulundu is that its import was banned in order to help the local farmers of these items. However, we are now discussing importing these items,” he said.
He said this at a media briefing held at the Government Information Department today (14).
Also addressing the media briefing the President of the Importers Association G. Mahendran said there is no shortage of essential goods and the wholesalers have ample stocks if required. He also noted that by next week the price of B. Onions would also be reduced.
