He noted that one of these two patients had been from the Kandakadu quarantine centre. This 44-year-old has been admitted to the Polonnaruwa Hospital for treatment. He had arrived in the country from Italy.
The other patient discovered today (14) is a 43-year-old who had also returned to the island from Italy. He is from the Nattandiya area. Dr. Jasinghe said that there were 16 others who had been among the infected patient and they are all under observation at the quarantine centre and kept separately.
The Nattandiya patient had been discovered when he had gone to the Kurunegala Hospital for treatment. The Health Services Director said that the Health officers had been sent to the house of that patient. Dr. Jasinghe said that currently there are 103 patients under observation at 18 government hospitals while over 1600 persons who had arrived in the country from overseas is being kept under observation at quarantine centres.
