The Ministry of Defence is to upgrade the Ranaviru Sewa Authority (RVSA) to a ‘one-stop-shop- to expedite providing facilities for families of fallen war heroes and disabled military personnel.
Defence Secretary Maj. Gen. (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne said priority needed to be given the soldiers who sacrificed their lives to bring peaceful future for the country.
“The RVSA officers who have been assigned to cover various districts will be shifted to respective area in coordination with regional authorities”, he said.
Addressing the staff, Maj. Gen. Gunaratne, during his first visit to RVSA Head Office in Colombo, (13) stressed the need of upgrading RVSA’s existing functions to a noble service that would facilitate the needs of the disabled and fallen war heroes and their families.
Defence Secretary said the existing process would be streamlined to expedite the process to provide necessary assistance for them.
“Needs of the families of fallen war heroes and disabled military personnel must be fulfilled without delay,” he said adding that priority should be given to the military who fought for the country’s future.
Under the extraordinary gazette notification number 2153/12 issued on December 10, 2019, the RVSA is an authority which is functioning under the purview of the Defence Ministry.
RVSA Chairman Maj. Gen. (Retd) Nandana Senadeera, Deputy Chairman Soniya Kottegoda and staff was also present at the occasion.
