The deadline for the acceptance of applications for temporary IDs has been extended to the 12th of October. The Commissioner-General of the National Elections Commission, Saman Sri Ratnayaka said that this decision was taken following a discussion yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Department for Registration of Persons said that they had issued 300,000 temporary IDs and handed them over to the Elections Commission. The Commissioner General of the Elections Commission stated that the temporary IDs will be distributed to the relevant individuals via Grama Sevaka Offices islandwide.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
