On a request made by the Hon. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe under the Standing Orders 16, the Committee on Parliamentary Business has decided to hold a special Session of Parliament on the 11th of November 2019. The decision was taken at the Parliamentary Business Committee held yesterday (06) chaired by the Hon. Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya. The Bill on Prevention of offences in Sports was scheduled to be taken into debate accordingly.
In addition, the Bill regarding the establishment of the Innovation Agency will also be presented for a second reading on the same day. Earlier it was decided to adjourn the Parliament until 03rd December 2019. However, the members of Governing party urged that the Parliament should be summoned immediately to debate the Bill on Prevention of offences in Sports.
