Media Release of the Director General of Civil Aviation Regarding Jaffna International Airport is as follows:
Alliance Air of India has informed the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka that they would commence operation of scheduled commercial passenger air services between Chennai airport and Jaffna Airport effective 10th November 2019.
According to the airline, a promotional air fare has been introduced such that oneway airfare between Chennai and Jaffna would be Indian Rupees 3090 (LKR 7,900) and Jaffna and Chennai airfare would be USD 86.5 (LKR 15,700).
In addition, FITS Aviation Ltd, which is a Sri Lanka registered airline company will operate a scheduled charter flight between Chennai and Jaffna on 8th November 2019 and scheduled charter flights between Jaffna and Trichi on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday effective 10th November 2019.
