The ceremonial ribbon-cutting followed a brief religious ceremony, performed by Buddhist monks at the invitation of the SFTS Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel Kanchana Weerasekara. Mr Senaka Rodrigo, a philanthropist with his family members was generous to buy a large stock of essential medical equipment to the new medical station, considering the valuable roles, being performed by SF soldiers. Afterwards, the day's Chief Guest, together with Senior Officers and donors inspected the new ward, waiting hall and other units and had a close look at its expansion project in future.
Later on, the Commander of the Army laid the new foundation stone for another wing in the same premises in order to better medical facilities for SF soldiers. He also had a friendly discussion with CES troops and discussed needs for the new construction. Towards the end of the event, the donor, Mr Senaka Rodrigo was awarded an appreciative memento at the same occasion by the Commander of the Army.
