    Suicide bombers 1,800 calls to probe by CID Featured

    The Criminal Investigation Department is scrutinising more than 1,800 telephone numbers used by the Easter Sunday suicide bombers, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said. Investigators attached to the CID and the Terrorist Investigation Division have taken into custody Twenty six (26) computers, including 23 laptops, 138 mobile phones and tabs, 30 external hard disks,12 pen drives, 142 sim cards and 67 CDs, DVDs and DVRs in connection with the Easter Sunday attacks

    He said they are being analysed by the investigators. Police sources said 63 persons who have had direct contacts with National Thowheed Jamaath leader Mohammed Zaharan have been arrested. Preliminary investigations have revealed that these suspects have visited the training camps conducted by this organization in Nuwara Eliya and Hambantota areas.
    Police sources said that terrorist Saharan had preached against the Sunni Islam followed by traditional Muslim community in the country. The suspects during interrogation have revealed that Zaharan followed Jihadism. Zaharan had conducted lectures at training centres located at Hambantota and Nuwa Eliya areas.
