The President who went on an observational visit to the Mahaweli Authority today (12) engaged in discussions with the officers at the auditorium where these facts were revealed.
The fishery industry, electricity, tourism, and other industries have been initiated under Moragahakanda – Kalugaga water projects. The President inquired into the new activities include the new city of Laggala, the first environment industry of Sri Lanka, the special environment regions project, and the progress of cultivation projects.
The President also paid attention on releasing the lands of Mahaweli and pointed out the need of releasing them immediately to the officers.
Secretary of Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment Anura Dissanayake, the new Secretary General of Mahaweli Authority Dr. D.M.S. Dissanayake, and senior officials were present in this event.
Then the President, later visited the National Gem and Jewelry Authority situated in Galle Raod, Colombo and observed its functioning and engaged in a friendly conversation with the staff.
The President emphasized the officers the importance of providing a good service to the clients who seeks services.
Then the President who came to the counter of the Presidential Secretariat observed its proceedings and observed the facilities given to visitors to the Presidential Secretariat.
