    Army Hospital receives ISO standards

    The Army Hospital in Colombo has been awarded with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification. The state of the art hospital which caters to the medical requirements of the security forces personnel was awarded with this recognition during a ceremony on Thursday (02nd, August).

    According to Army media, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake had accepted the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) Certificate of Conformity (ISO 9001 - 2015/SLSI ISO 9001 - 2015) from the Chairman of SLSI Mr. Bandula Herath and Director General, SLSI Dr. Susanthika Senaratne, during the ceremony held at the hospital auditorium, yesterday.

    This is the first time that a government hospital in the country has received ISO 9001 certification. The hospice was declared open on 05 May 2014 and is equipped with cutting edge medical technology equipment.

    The modern facility has 1024 beds, 21 wards, 12 dental surgery units, 9 operation theaters, MRI scanning facilities, automatic x-ray machines, pathology, radiology and dermatology units and a labour room. The 10 storied hospital also has a roof top helicopter pad and a 314 seat auditorium. The Out Patient Unit (OPD) can cater 1000 patients daily.
