    Taxes on several essential food items reduced

    To control the Cost of Living of the consumers, Minister of Finance and Mass Media Mangala Samaraweera has reduced the levy on several essential food items from midnight, today (8th Nov.).

    Announcing this pre-budget benefit,  in a media briefing at the ministry, with the State Minister of Finance Eran Wickremaratna, the minister told that majority of the consumers will benefit from this action, due to reduction of prices.

     

    According to the announcement, the levy of following food commodities will reduce in following manner.
