The Constitution is made for the progress of the country and not to turn the country back, Co-Cabinet Spokesman Minister Dayasiri Jayasenaka said.
He said the dangerous statements made by some individuals on the preparation of new constitution indicate their mentality and the way how they acted during the past. These statements will open the door for extremism, he added.
The minister also said that all communities including, Sinhalese, Tamils, and Muslims should go ahead together as a unitary country to find a lasting solution for the prevailing issue.
