Power Minister requests not to obstruct public

    June 27, 2017

Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya today (27th June) requests all the TUs under his ministry and the members to conduct their protest campaign and the conference scheduled for tomorrow without obstructing the general public.

Minister made these remarks at a press conference held today in Colombo.

He said, the government is seeking short term solutions to revise the salary of employees  and increasing the salary of about 20, 100 employees is very difficult. In 2014, only the engineers’ salary has been increased, and later all the employees’ salary has been increased by 30 percent.

According to the minister, his ministry had to bear a loss of over 300 million due to the recent disaster situation. He further requested the people to use electricity sparingly as the water levels in reservoirs have been reduced.
