    3,500 Sri Lankan workers return during Saudi amnesty

    Around 3,500 Sri Lankan workers, who stayed illegally in Saudi Arabia have been issued air tickets during the general amnesty extended from 21st March 2017 to 25th June 2017, Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment said.

    The government of Saudi Arabia emphasized that the people stay illegally must leave the country during this amnesty and the relief period will not be extended due to any reason. Those who will stay even after the amnesty will be arrested, fined and deported, it said.


     
    The Sri Lankan Embassy in Saudi requests the family members of the Sri Lankan workers in Saudi Arabia to inform their relatives in this regard.

     

    Meanwhile, the Ambassador Azmi Thasim stated that those who leave Saudi Arabia within the amnesty period will be given legal permission to re-enter the country.
