    New Navy vessel officially launched at Goa Shipyard

    The second Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel (AOPV) being built at the Goa Shipyard in India was officially launched on Tuesday (02nd May).

    According to Navy media sources the launching ceremony of the vessel 'SLNS Sindurala' was held under the patronage of Secretary Defence Production Sri AK Gupta.

     

    A Sri Lanka Navy delegation led by Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha De Silva was present at the occasion.

     

    With a length of 105.7 m and 13.6 m width the vessel has a displacement of 2350 tons. It has accommodation facilities for 18 officers and 100 sailors. It has an endurance of 4,500 nautical miles in terms of carrying out surveillance operations and also carries a helipad onboard.
