    Over 17,000 kilos of rice confiscated

    The Maligawatta Additional Magistrate on 4th April ordered to confiscate a stock of 17,150 kilos  of Nadu rice, which the trader refused to sell and deposit the money in the Consumer Affairs Authority account. The trader was fined Rs 12,500 as well.

    CAA officials said that during the time there was a price control on rice, they went to this shop and asked to purchase rice. Though the trader said that he didn’t have rice, the officials found 686 bags of rice each weighing 25 kilos.

     

    The officials sealed the stock of rice and informed court.
