International Women’s Day National Ceremony will be held on 8th March at the Sanath Jayasuriya stadium, Matara under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
According to the Women and Child Affairs Minister Chandrani Bandara, many programs to commemorate this day were started on 1st March.
Around 1, 500 women will participate at the national ceremony themed “Thunkal Dakinni- Saviyen Dinananni”.
Establishing the Women and Child Unit at Matara Police station, establishing women-friendly villages, women’s trade fair, and Suwanari clinics are some of the programs being implemented under the commemoration.
