Prior to this he served as secretary to the Ministries of Prison Reform, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs, Ministry of Plantation Infrastructure Development, and Ministry of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development since 2010.

Ministry of National Integration and Reconciliation comes directly under the purview of the President and the President is also the Minister in-charge for the subject of national integration and reconciliation.
