Addressing the Media Seminar on RTI at the Department of Government Information he said that now the RTI has been adopted as an Act by the government so each and every politician and officer has to think twice before taking any action, or engaging in any activity which would lead to corruption. “As a government, we have to keep it in our minds that we are in a transparent glass box now,” he added.
He further said that several foreign countries have agreed to provide necessary assistance to promote the Right to Information in Sri Lanka.
Deputy Minister Karunathne Paranawithana, Director General of Department of Government Information, Dr. Ranga Kalansooriya, Academics, invitees, representatives from Sri Lanka Press Association, heads of media, and journalists participated on the occasion.
