    Army to release 522 acres lands in North and East

    Army has agreed to further release 522 acres of private lands in the Northern and Eastern Provinces to resettle the displaced community. The government has already released 4,992.84 acres of private and government lands in the Northern and Eastern Provinces used by the three forces during the conflict situation.

    The land that are not further needed, have already been released to their original owners with the consent of the Ministry of Defense. The Minister of Finance and Mass Media Mangala Samaraweera and Minister of Resettlement, Rehabilitation, Northern Development & Hindu Religious Affairs D.M. Swaminathan have jointly proposed allocating Rs. 866.71 million to the Sri Lanka Army to relocate the army camps presently existing in the private lands.
