Farmers of Huruluwewa Project are cultivating Soya under the additional crop cultivation programme. However they say that they do not get a guaranteed price for their harvest. Farmers of Galenbindunawewa, Huruluwewa project are cultivating additional crops during the season where water is not sufficient for paddy cultivation.
Huruluwewa farmer representatives said that they have cultivated Soya in about 2,000 acres. They say that private traders purchase a kilogram of Soya between 70 to 75 rupees. They urge the Government to pay its attention to pay a guaranteed price for Soya.
