The use of plastic household items in abundance by people instead of rattan and reed products and also the scarcity of rattan and reed has become a threat to the industry. Also the industry will face severe problem in the future as the next generation engaged in better occupations are reluctant to enter the industry.
Therefore, it is the responsibility of the government to protect this industry which produces traditional items that possess an identity unique to the country, for the future generation.
