The Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said although the Police had earlier briefed the drivers not to install such additional colour lights it had been reported that certain vehicle owners continue to breach this regulation. Therefore the Police have decided to initiate stern legal action against such vehicle owners.

According to ASP Gunasekera, the Motor Traffic Act prohibits the use of coloured lights in motor vehicles. Other than the head lamps and signal lights, it is an offence to use other coloured lights.

The Traffic Police have already taken a decision to take strict legal action in the future.
