The Police appeals to the public to provide information on those who set fire to Forest Reserves. An extent of around three acres was totally destroyed in a fire which erupted in the Castlereigh Reservoir last night.
The fire is reported to have begun from the New Valley Watte area along the Hatton-Maskeliya main road coming under the Norwood Police division. The fire has spread fast due to the dry climatic condition and the strong breeze.
The dire attempts made by the Norwood Police enabled to contain the spread of the fire throughout the Forest Reserve.
The Police suspect the forest may have been set ablaze with the intention of hunting animals
