Awarding letters of appointments to the second batch of Teacher Assistants (TA) to fill 370 more vacancies in Estate sector State schools was held on Thursday (04) under the patronage of Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and with the participation of Education State Minister V.S.Radhakrishnan at the Ministry Auditorium.
The government decided to recruit Teacher Assistants to Estate Schools as a remedy for teacher shortages in Tamil Schools as well as to reduce unemployment within the Estate sector.
This is in addition to the first batch of 1,688 TA appointments. Out of the 370 TA's, 102 will be for Uva, 173 for Central, 8 for Southern Province, 72 for Sabaragamuwa and 15 for Western Province.
