In the first stage, 400 students who have obtained “A” passes in all three subjects in the commerce stream and selected on district basis and could not enter the university will be admitted for training.

These students will be trained as per a special intensive educational plan and thereby they will be able to complete their training along with the other  students recruited for training during the current academic year.

The Maharagama teacher training college was upgraded as a National College of Education for Management and Entrepreneurship Education to enable commerce teachers to cope up with the future needs.
