The invitation was conveyed to the Sankaracharya by Saman Athaudahetti, Additional Secretary(media) to the Prime Minister, at the Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Matt earlier in the week.
Athaudahetti following handing over of the invitation had extensively discussed with the Sankaracharya on enhancing Indu-Sri Lanka religious affairs.
“At the meeting we sought his advice on ways and means of protecting Hindu religious customs and places of worship in Sri Lanka, especially the training of priests in the correct religious tradition,“ Athuradahetti has told New Indian Express on Sunday.
The Deputy Head M.K.Padmanadan of the South Indian Deputy High Commissioner's Office participated at the discussion.
