Under the first phase of distributing big onion seeds to farmers in the North Central Province, distributing big onion seeds to 400 farmers commenced. The function was held at the Hingurakgoda Agriculture office under the patronage of North Central Chief Minister P.B. Ratnayake.
The aim of the programme is to release the harvest when there is a shortage of big onions in the market. North Central Province Agriculture Minister said that this would control the price in the market.
All seeds have been prepared by the Agriculture Department.
