In order to fill the shortage of Tamil medium teachers in estate sector schools, the government decided to recruit suitable candidates who are permanent residents of estate areas as Teacher Assistants through a competitive examination carried out by the Examinations Department.
Accordingly handing over of Letters of appointment to 1688 Teacher Assistants to fill Tamil medium vacancies in estate schools will take place at the Education Ministry auditorium today under the auspices of Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and with the participation of Education State Minister V.Radhakrishnan.
The second batch will receive their appointment letters within the next two weeks and with these appointments, the number of Teacher Assistant recruits will reach 3,000.
