The Met Dept. forecasts thundershowers to develop at several places inland during the afternoon and to spread to the Western and Northwestern coastal areas later.
Light showers will occur in the coastal area extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle during the morning too, Met Dept. said.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
The Dept. requests general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
