    Special bus & train services for commuters to return to Colombo

    Special transport services are being operated from April 15 to April 21 for the convenience of those who left for their hometowns on behalf of the national New Year to return to Colombo. The Transport Ministry has deployed sufficient buses and trains to cater to the needs of the commuters who are returning to Colombo.

    The National Transport Commission said the operation of these special services to meet the transport needs of the people who are returning to Colombo from their hometowns will continue till the 21st of this month. Provincial Passenger Transport Authorities are supporting the programme.

     

    The special operations are in place on normal roads as well as on expressways. According to our correspondents this has paved the way for the people to meet their needs sans experiencing hardships.

     

    Meanwhile the operation of special train services for the convenience of the public also commenced yesterday. More passengers were seen using the train plying from Badulla to Colombo Fort. The Railway Department said that they were operating trains without incurring any hindrances.
