Amid a distinguished gathering of senior officers and industry magnates, the awards ceremony presented laurels to 30 other rankers who did exceptionally well in the field of production and new innovations in the year 2014.

The annual prize-giving ceremony, with the intention of further motivating the workforce to reach the dizzy heights and encouraging fellow-workers to follow suit, was organized by Brigadier E.M.G Wickramanayake, Centre Commandant, Ranaviru Apparels Industries on the directions of Major General Prasad Samarasinghe, Chairman, Board of Management, Ranaviru Apparels Industries, comprised of several garment industry stalwarts from the civil sector who serve both factories on honorary basis, the Army media reported.
Monday’s awards ceremony at the Bishop's College Auditorium commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, who was received by Major General A.S De Z Wickramaratne, Director Rehabilitation, flanked by Ranaviru Apparels Centre Commandant and senior officers.
Lighting of the traditional oil lamp, two-minute silence in memory of fallen War Heroes and the welcome speech afterwards set the stage ready for distribution of prizes to the achievers in the year 2014.
Minutes after the Chief Guest and Directors of the Board of Management, Ranaviru Apparels were invited on stage to appreciate efficiency of those War Heroes in productivity and exceptional skills by distributing awards.
Each recipient received Rs 10,000/= worth gift vouchers as a token of appreciation in the wake of forthcoming Sinhala & Tami New Year.
On the same occasion, the launch of the new quality brand ‘Comrade’ shirt was formally released to the market as one more innovation of the industry.
Colourful entertaining and dancing features during the event brought amusement to the occasion at the Bishop's College Auditorium and the event came to a close with the vote of thanks and the national anthem.
