Speaking at the Cabinet media briefing today (03), Cabinet Media Spokesperson Minister Rajitha Senaratna said that the Government has decided to pay a guaranteed price of Rs. 80/- per a kilogram of raw tea leaves produced by Small Scale tea estate holders under the 100 days programme of the new government.
This proposal was also included in the Interim Budget presented to the Parliament by the. Minister of Finance on 29th January, 2015.
Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal made by the Minister of Plantation Industry Lakshman Kiriella to pay a guaranteed price of Rs. 80/- per kilogram for raw tea leaves produced by Small Scale tea estate holders.
