The Freshwater Fishermen’s Cooperative Society provided safety jackets and fishing gear to fishermen who fish in the Castlereigh reservoir at a function held at the Cooperative Society of Castlereigh Freshwater Fishermen.
This was a result of the decision taken by the Central Province Fresh Water Fishing Ministry to provide safety jackets for fishermen who engaged in fishing without any security. Accordingly 35 Fishermen were given fishing gear and safety jackets .
The fishermen had been given training on how to use the safety jackets by the Ministry officials The officials of the Freshwater Fishermen’s Cooperative Society said that the membership of fishermen who do not use safety jackets, will be cancelled.
