For the first time in the country a programme will be launched on March 31 to check the hearing ability of new born babies. The programme will be launched on March 31 by testing children born at the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital.
The programme aims to detect hearing impairments as soon as the child is born and to give necessary treatment. About 400 children with hearing impairments are born annually in the country.
The project jointly implemented by the Association of ENT Surgeons and the Health Ministry will be implemented island wide in future.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
