The Ministry said that an island wide cleaning campaigns on identified mosquito breeding places as well as awareness programmes will be carried out with the aim of eradicating dengue epidemic before the inclement weather conditions expected in next few months.This would include checking of over one million premises by deploying 3,100 teams of officials with the help of the National Dengue Prevention Programme and the Presidential Task Force on Dengue Fever.

Attention will be mainly focused on the Western Province which recorded 46.73% of dengue cases, Director of the National Dengue Prevention Unit Specialist Dr. Hasitha Tissera said.
