The discussion chaired by Minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe will be held at the Ministry of Labour with the participation of representatives of the private sector institutions and trade unions and labour commissioners.

The new Government called on the National Labour Council to increase the salaries of workers in the Private Sector parallel to the salary increase in the Public Sector as per the interim budget.

Already 36 wage control boards have conducted several rounds of talks to increase the minimum salary of the private sector up to 10,000 and provide an additional increment of 2,500 rupees for them.
