    Committee appointed to develop livelihood programs for ex-LTTE cadre

    Following a special discussion headed by the Sri Lankan Prime Minister held at the Temple Trees yesterday, the PM Ranil Wickremasinghe has appointed a committee to explore and initiate programs to create employment for the former rehabilitated cadres of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).  He said the objective of implementing these livelihood development programs is to assist them to secure their economic environment.
     
    The committee comprises the officials of the Bureau of the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation.
     
     
    Sri Lanka has almost completed the rehabilitation of nearly 12,000 former cadres of the Tamil terrorist group according to the Bureau of the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation. Currently, 49 hardcore LTTE cadres remain in detention centers.
     
     
    The rehabilitated LTTE members receive vocational training on various skills during their rehabilitation.
