A Skills Development Centre for the children with special needs in and around Waltrim Grama Niladari Division in Nuwara Eliya was inaugurated recently. The Centre was established with the aim of developing skills of children with special needs to help them to live independently. Presently aroundt 60 children with special needs are attached to this centre.
The building was donated by the Watawala Plantations and the teachers were trained by Peedso - an NGO. The coordination of the project is being done by the Social Service Department while World Vision has been an active contributor.
Nuwara Eliya Additional District Secretary Ms.U.W.R.U.M.Amarasekera, Senior Estate Superintendent Wanigatunga, CEO of Watawala Plantations and people in the area were present on the occasion.
