A special police team sent from Colombo on a tip off had located a three and half acre Ganja cultivation which had been maintained in the dense forest of the Wasgamuwa Birds Sanctuary in the Wilgamuwa Police area and had seized 6,500 plants of cannabis.

The suspects who were residents of Buttala had been handed over to the Wilgamuwa Police to be produced in courts. The Walana Police and the Panadura Anti Vice Striking Unit are conducting further investigations.
